Emerging in 2008, Go For The Eyes’ infectious stage energy exploded onto the Alberta music scene. Blessed with a DIY work ethic, and an ever- increasing fan base, the band’s unique brand of hybrid rock makes any listener want to “dub it to cassette and glue it in their tape deck.”
Consisting of vocalist/ keyboardist Elise Roller, vocalist/guitarist Jeff Turner, bassist Eric Svilpis and drummer Nathan Raboud, Go For The Eyes released their debut album on
February 25, 2011. On this date they broke the record for highest local-release ticket sales for SAIT’s The Gateway. The self- titled LP is an intersection of genre- spanning influences, which they like to call, “circus rock,” striving to take the band’s contagious performance sensibilities, put them to wax, and run the needle blunt.
A week after the release of the album, the band completed a Canadian tour heading as far East as Ottawa, and as far West as Victoria. Go For The Eyes was a proud representative of Calgary’s music scene as a showcasing band at Canadian Music Week 2011 in Toronto. A jaw-dropping live performance perked the interest of a talent scout, and the band was given the honour to play a private viewing for the president of EMI publishing a few days later.
The band has shared the stage with such artists as Alcoholic Faith Mission (Denmark), The Luyas (Montreal), Sweet Thing (TO), The Darcys (TO), Transit (Calgary), Calm Asa Coma (Calgary), and Frankie McQueen (Calgary). With a swelling number of concerts, a magnetic live performance, and zero plans for slowing down, Go For The Eyes will be taking this country by storm.
